Innovation Project
I am a seventh grader at Sells Middle School. In my Language Arts class, my teachers assigned a task. The task was to do an innovation research project. At first I was like, "Ok, this shouldn't be too hard." As I worked on the project I learned that I had to use a lot of my effort and hard work to complete this project. It took me a couple days to decide my Research paper topic. I first had the idea to do innovation in athletics. That idea transitioned into innovation in soccer, which blossomed into innovation within the Soccket. I was looking up innovation in soccer, when I stumbled across the Soccket. To be honest, I was a little confused. I showed some of my friends and we were all like, "What is that?" As I dug deeper into the strange topic of a soccer ball that produces light, I became hooked. I saw the Soccket as a great example of innovation. My definition of innovation is something that is new, creative, unique, and changes something that we know of in everyday life into something different. The Soccket for example, is a soccer ball. The soccket is not only a soccer ball though, it is a way to capture energy and release light.
A lot of work went into creating this website. I researched many articles, and searched for many pictures. I even had the privilege to email someone from Uncharted Play, the company that creates the Soccket, named Melissa. Melissa helped answer many of my questions, and I would like to give her my thanks. I would also like to thank Washington Post, Oprah.com, ecogeek.org, blogs.asap, for helping me with my resources to make this website. Lastly I would like to thank my Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Taylor. I loved doing this project, because it gives me a sense of accomplishment. I am proud of how this website turned out and hope that I helped the people that see it to learn more about innovation, and the Soccket itself.
